What Does a Professional Yacht or Superyacht Photographer Deliver After a Photoshoot?

When booking a professional yacht or superyacht photoshoot, one of the most common questions is simple: how many final photographs will I receive?

At Yacht Photo Studio, our quotations generally specify a minimum delivery of around 100 final photographs for a complete yacht photoshoot.

In practice, we often deliver considerably more. Depending on the yacht and the production, a complete gallery can easily contain 150–170 or more fully edited photographs.

There is a reason for this. Our objective is not simply to reach a number of images. We want the final library to provide complete coverage of the yacht, so that the owner, broker, Central Agent or yacht manager has enough material for websites, listings, brochures, PR and social media.

Why do we deliver so many photographs?

When photographing a yacht or superyacht, we try to anticipate how the images will be used later.

For every important area, we normally create wide-angle photographs that clearly describe the space, together with alternative compositions and details where useful. But there is another important consideration: the same space may need to be presented in more than one way.

A main salon, for example, can be photographed in its clean architectural configuration and then again with the dining or breakfast table prepared. Exterior areas can be photographed with different setups, cushions, table settings or lighting conditions.

This creates a much more useful photographic library and reduces the possibility of discovering later that an important angle, setup or configuration is missing.

The goal is therefore not to deliver 170 similar photographs. It is to provide different, genuinely useful versions of the yacht and its spaces.

How many photographs should you expect?

For a complete yacht or superyacht photoshoot, our quotations normally indicate approximately 100 final files as the expected minimum delivery. The actual number varies considerably.

A relatively simple yacht may require fewer images, while a larger superyacht with several decks, guest cabins, beach club, water toys, navigation, drone photography and different daytime and evening setups can generate a much larger final gallery.

In many of our complete productions, the final selection reaches 150–170 photographs or more.

This also explains why counting photographs alone is not necessarily the best way to compare yacht photography services. What matters is whether the final library provides the coverage and variety required for the yacht’s marketing.

Are all delivered photographs edited?

Yes. The photographs delivered to the client are selected and professionally post-produced.

During a yacht photoshoot we naturally capture considerably more files than those included in the final gallery. Similar frames, tests and images that are not part of the final selection are removed during editing.

The client therefore receives a curated final photographic library, rather than every file produced by the cameras during the shoot.

Do we deliver RAW files?

Normally, no.

RAW files are part of our production process and are not the finished photographic product. Our delivery consists of selected and post-produced photographs representing the final result of the shoot.

There can be exceptions when a client specifically requests source material. In these cases, we can provide the bracketed exposures used for some architectural and interior photographs when agreed in advance.

However, we do not normally provide the RAW files from photographs created using our flash lighting techniques, as these files are individual components of the photographic and post-production process rather than finished images.

What should the final yacht photography library be able to do?

A good yacht or superyacht photoshoot should provide more than enough material for one listing or one brochure.

The final gallery should allow the marketing team to select different photographs for the yacht’s website, sales or charter listings, brochures, presentations, PR, advertising and social media.

This is also why we prefer to provide alternative views and configurations of important spaces rather than limiting the delivery to an arbitrary number.

Our quotation may say 100 photographs. The final gallery will often contain considerably more.

The objective is not to deliver the highest possible number of files. It is to make sure that, once the yacht leaves the photoshoot, the marketing team has the photographs it actually needs.
